“The IP-based CCTV surveillance system improved campus safety and supported administrative supervision across the large residential campus.”

The objective was to install IP-based CCTV cameras across academic blocks, administrative offices, hostels, libraries, and main entry points to monitor activity, discourage unauthorized access, and support incident response.

Challenges
- The university spans several acres with multiple academic and residential buildings. Coordinating installation across distant blocks was logistically complex.
- As a residential campus, cameras had to be placed thoughtfully to respect the privacy of students while maintaining proper coverage in public areas.
- Some departments were newly built, while others had older construction, requiring different cabling and mounting approaches.

Solutions
- Cameras were installed at key locations including academic corridors, entry gates, parking areas, hostels, libraries, and canteens. Areas with high foot traffic were prioritized.
- Outdoor IP cameras with night-vision capability and weather protection were installed in parking zones, walkways, and entrances.
- A dedicated monitoring room was set up within the security department, where personnel could view live feeds and access archived footage.
Results
All major zones were brought under surveillance, including academic departments, entrances, student centers, and administrative buildings.
Security teams could respond more quickly to reported issues or unauthorized movement using live camera feeds.
