“The IP camera-based student transport monitoring system addressed parent concerns and supported route and behavior management for the 90-bus fleet.”

Gaudium School aimed to improve student safety and transportation oversight by installing IP cameras across its fleet of 90 school buses. The goal was to monitor on-board activities during transit, address parent concerns regarding student travel, and support the transport team in route and behavior management. Brihaspathi Technologies was brought in to design and execute the mobile surveillance system tailored for moving vehicles.

Challenges
- Operating cameras on buses required stable power supply and vibration-resistant mounting, as buses frequently stop, idle, or travel across uneven roads.
- Each camera setup had to capture clear footage of seating areas, entrances, and driver behavior, without infringing on personal privacy.
- Cameras needed to record footage either in real-time or store it securely without relying on constant internet connectivity.

Solutions
- Vehicle-Compatible IP Cameras: Compact, wide-angle IP cameras were installed inside each bus to capture full interior views while minimizing blind spots.
- Power Integration with Bus Systems: Camera systems were connected to the vehicle’s internal power supply, with proper safeguards to prevent short-circuiting or disconnection during ignition.
- Local Recording Setup: Cameras were paired with memory storage units inside the buses to store footage locally, which could be accessed when needed at the base.
Results
Each of the 90 school buses is now equipped with interior monitoring systems, helping record daily activities and travel logs.
Onboard staff became more cautious and alert knowing that activities were being recorded, resulting in more disciplined behavior.
