Stanley College of Engineering and Technology for Women

The goal was to set up a CCTV system that could monitor high-traffic areas, outdoor spaces, and residential zones to maintain a safe and secure learning environment for students and staff. Brihaspathi Technologies was chosen to deliver and maintain a campus-wide surveillance system.

Challenges

Challenges

  • The college included academic blocks, hostel corridors, outdoor areas, and common student zones. Each space had different surveillance needs and visibility challenges.
  • Determining which areas of the campus needed constant monitoring - without overlooking low-traffic zones that could still present safety concerns - required detailed planning.
  • A reliable network was needed to support dozens of IP cameras without compromising performance or footage quality.
Solutions

Solutions

  • A total of 56 IP cameras and 2 PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) cameras were installed across the college. Cameras were placed at all five corridors.
  • Cat 6 cables and 8-port Power over Ethernet (PoE) switches were used to power the cameras and transmit video data, minimizing the need for separate power lines.
  • To support continuous recording, a 64-channel Network Video Recorder (NVR) and 8TB hard disk were installed. This setup provided adequate storage and efficient playback.

Results

All essential areas of the college - from academic corridors to outdoor gathering zones - were brought under CCTV coverage.

The presence of cameras helped deter unauthorized access and allowed quicker response to incidents or disputes.
